Haitian Born Doctor Returns To Haiti To Help The Injured

by ERICA LIEPMANN, Causecast Associate Editor
After a catastrophic 7.0 earthquake leveled his former home, Haitian born doctor Henri Ford traveled back to Haiti to help. Bringing his experience as Chief of Surgery at L.A.‘s Children’s Hospital and a U.S. government team of medics in tow, Ford is working to heal his country’s injured. His familiarity with the country’s people, geography and language make him especially effective as he goes out into the streets of Port-Au-Prince, actively seeking injured Haitians in need of surgery.
To support medical relief efforts in Haiti, you can make a donation to International Medical Corps or any of the other nonprofit organizations providing medical aid in Haiti. The organization MedShare is also recruiting American volunteers to help package medical supplies to be shipped to Haiti.

Just over a month ago, Haiti was devastated by an earthquake – over 2 million desperately in need of food assistance to rebuild their lives. The World Food Programme was there before the quake, and they’ll be there afterwards. If you want to help you should go to: http://wfp.org/crisis/haiti or text FRIENDS to 90999 to make a $5 donation.
